Keeping Guide
Housing
Terrestrial setup, minimum 30×30×30 cm for adults. Deep substrate (10–15 cm) for burrowing — B. hamorii love to dig. Provide a hide, a water dish and a few cork pieces. They will rearrange everything to their liking regardless 😄
Temperature & Humidity
Room temperature is sufficient in most European homes (20–26°C). No additional heating required in most cases. Humidity 40–60% — keep substrate mostly dry with a slightly moist corner. Overflow the water dish occasionally to simulate natural rainfall.
Feeding
Crickets, roaches or mealworms appropriate to body size. Adults can go months without food — especially females in premolt. Don't panic, they know what they're doing.
Handling
One of the most handleable tarantulas in the hobby when settled. Slow, calm and rarely defensive. A perfect species for building confidence — just respect premolt periods when they become more easily startled.
Experience Level
Beginner. The quintessential first tarantula — forgiving, slow, stunning and long-lived. Ashley has been proving this for years.
